There are two different tools that are good for creating brochures and posters. The first is called Microsoft publisher. It has many different templates and categories we could choose from, however it is not installed in this computer. Another one is in Word. It does not have as many choices, however, it will work.

Evaluation

I think, overall, that everything worked out well for me. I have an introduction on my home page and nine other pages, two of which were videos that worked really well. The only thing is that it I couldn't upload videos unless they had a code. That was the only thing that delayed the making of my iweb. I made my website in the form of a journal and a person writing in it as a guide to earthquakes. This worked out well.

The design cycle came into the making of my website a lot. I was able to use it as a guide through making a website. It was helpful since I had never done anything like this before.

For the investigation, I searched for information about my topic, Earthquakes, and saved it all on google documents. I also saved my sources on my delicious account so I would be able to refer to my sources later.

Then I went to iweb and chose the design of my website. This is where i got the idea of a journal. Then I decided how i wanted to set up my pages.

After this, I planned where to put the pictures and my information.

Then I actually typed up my information and uploaded my videos.

What are earthquakes?

Earthquakes occur in California often. This is because California is located on an earthquake fault. Without warning we wake up in the middle of the night because of the sometimes violent, sometimes slow rolling motion of the earth; other times we are driving on the freeway, walking in the mall, or even just watching television when an earthquake occurs. So what are earthquakes? What causes them? Why do earthquakes feel so different from one another?

Earthquakes are the Earth's natural means of releasing tension. When the Earth's plates move against each other, stress is put on the lithosphere. When this stress is great enough, the lithosphere breaks or shifts. As the plates move they put forces on themselves and each other. When the force is large enough, the crust is forced to break. When the break occurs, the stress is released as energy that moves through the Earth in the form of waves, which we feel and call an earthquake.

Faults

Faults are surfaces along which rocks have fractured and been displaced. There are three major types of faults: strike-slip, normal, and reverse. The tectonic stresses caused by plate motions build up over time and eventually cause breaks in the crust of the Earth along which the rocks sporadically grind past one another. When this happens, earthquakes occur.
